Okay, here is the deal. I just bought a new system the I sadly short changed it on memory (shut about that that isn't the problem now)
I'm running an Asus L1N64-SLI WS Mobo with a single AMD Athlon 64 FX-74 processor (I'm not rich you know cuz it could have been two)
Well I don't know what memory slots look like on other peoples mobos but mine are like this || || just imagine the black bars as slots. Now the two on the right arer A1/B1 and the two on the left are A2/B2. And of course they're linked to each others respective processor slots. But the problem is are they linked together (meaning in a single CPU configuration you can add more ram by just filling in all the slots)
I bought another 2gb and put them into the A2/B2 even though they're there, the BIOS setup is saying "ehhhhhhh, what RAM? You only got the 2gb in A1/B1"
Well I'm at a loss in money and patience. Yeah I'd be on the Asus tech support forum but just witnessing how people are over there I hope that forum crashes. Worthless people you got the initial post (like mine) then you get about 4 more pages of posts that pretty much go "I have the configuration and it works just fine" That bugs the shit out of me because it doesn't help my problem.
The point is I want to know if I just wasted about 120 dollars on more RAM that the computer will never use or someone some how knows how to fix this dillemma I've exhasuted all my search engine powers (I swear i'm down to just reviews of the mobo) OH almost forgot. The RAM i'm using is OCZ Platinum Revision 2 240-pin DDR2 800 (PC6400) in 4x 1GB Modules. 2 are saying we're here 2 aren't.

Gaddammit, whatever I'll just hock the shit off on ebay for a $100/2 sticks. (paid about $150/2 sticks but seeing as how they're "used")
then just buy 2gb modules. Or I might keep what I got and just get the other processor (mmmmm dual FX-74s) Then I can take advantage of both sets of 2gb and get an the power of an extra processor (tbh I think board kinda needs two CPUs on it it seems kinda funny not to)
Thank you for the help anyways it's greatly appreciated. It's better than what I would have gotten on the Asus Forums.
Try this on for size.
Imagine my post being there then about 50 replies that say this.
"I have the same setup as you and mine works just fine"
